One of my favorite projects for the last four years has been creating promotional items for MTVarts large summer musicals. It’s a highlight of the summer for our entire town. Thousands of people come to see the sets, the costumes, the scenery, the dancing… the magic! I’m proud to say I get to be a part of making the magic happen through designing posters, billboards, ads, and more for the shows–all with a strong brand easily recognizable in the central Ohio community. This summer’s musical is no different. The familiar story of Cinderella brings to mind pumpkins, fairy godmothers, mice, glass slippers, beautiful ball gowns, a magic coach, and the transformation of a simple girl’s dreams into reality as she meets her Prince Charming. Every little girl holds Cinderella’s hopes in her heart at some point in her life.

I used classic imagery associated with the story. Bruce Jacklin, the director set purple and gold as theme colors for the entire show as they will be featured prominently. The logo was provided by the Rodgers & Hammerstein licensing company. I love being part of setting the tone and expectations of magic for the summer musicals each year. I’m grateful for this opportunity, as well, to experience some magic as these projects lend themselves to the fantastical, whereas most projects are more down-to-earth. As the fairy godmother says… “It’s Possible!”
